  • A man at the front line of exploration and one of the world’s most experienced divers, field science and polar experts, Paul Rose helps scientists unlock and communicate global mysteries in the most remote and challenging regions of the planet.Paul is an experienced television presenter and radio broadcaster. With a proven track record in business engagements, Paul is a sought-after speaker, chairman, host and moderator for industry, government and NGO events. This picture taken at the Keswick Mountain Festival in 2009.
  • Joss Naylor, MBE (born on 10 February 1936 at Wasdale Head) is an English fell runner, and a sheep farmer, living in the English Lake District. As his achievements increased he became better known as the King of the Fells or simply the Iron Man. His fell running achievements include successive peak bagging records within the scope of the Bob Graham Round. In 1975 he ran 72 peaks, claimed to involve over 100 miles and about 38,000 feet of ascent in 23h20m. In 1986 (age 50) he completed the Wainwrights in 7 days. In 1997 (age 60) ran 60 Lakeland fell tops in 36 hours.In 2006 (age 70) he ran 70 Lakeland fell tops, covering more than 50 miles and ascending more than 25,000 feet, in under 21 hours. He considers the 72 peak Lakeland circuit as his own greatest achievement, setting a record which stood unbroken for 13 years. He was appointed an MBE for his services to sport and charity. Olympic Gold medal winner and co-founder of the London Marathon Chris Brasher described Joss Naylor as 'The Greatest of Them All'. To say that he is a legend here in Cumbria is an understatement!   • Fell runner from Hesket Newmarket, Cumbria, on the summit of High Pike towards the end of the Old Crown Round in 2009. Pearson won the event, completing the 24 mile round of the Caldbeck Fells in 4hrs 14minutes.
  • Owner and chief instructor at Cumbria's Air Ventures paragliding school, he also organises the famous Buttermere Bash and helps out behind the scenes at many local events. Here he is at the Kewsick Mountain Festival in 2009.
  • Graeme Obree (born 11 September 1965), nicknamed The Flying Scotsman, is a Scottish racing cyclist who twice broke the world hour record, in July 1993 and April 1994, and was the individual pursuit world champion in 1993 and 1995. He was known for his unusual riding positions and for the Old Faithful bicycle he built which included parts from a washing machine. This picture taken at the Keswick Mountain Festival in 2009.

Her other achievements include sailing round the world, sailing single-handed across the Atlantic in a small boat, and trekking 3,000 miles (4,800 km) alone through Chile on horseback.This picture was taken at the Keswick Mountain Festival in 2009.

She was offered hotel accommodation, but, having lived for five years in a tiny tent on her round-the-world run, she declined and took herself off to the hills to sleep wild again.

  • At the Keswick Mountain Festival 2008.Michael {quote}Mick{quote} Fowler (born 1956 in London) is an award-winning British mountaineer and author.He was voted the {quote}Mountaineers' Mountaineer{quote} in a poll in The Observer and, with Paul Ramsden, won the 2002 Piolet d'Or and Golden Piton awards for their ascent of 6,250-metre (20,510 ft) Mount Siguniang in the Qionglai Mountains in the Sichuan Province of China. In 2012, he was awarded the King Albert award for his {quote}outstanding contribution to mountaineering{quote}, and in 2013, he and Paul Ramsden became the first pair to win a Piolet d'Or award twice after their ascent of the 6,142-metre (20,151 ft) Prow of Shiva in the Indian Himalayas. Respect!

  • Receiving his trophiesafter winning the Latrigg Fell Race at the Keswick Mountain Festival in 2008. Simon won the British Fell Running Championship in 2002 & 2005 and came 2nd in the World Skyrunning Series in 2005.
  • Competing in the Three Shires Fell Race in Cumbria in September 2015. Nicky is a British long distance runner, specialising in fell running. She holds the women's records for each of the three major fell running challenges in the United Kingdom – the Bob Graham Round, the Ramsay Round and the Paddy Buckley Round, as well as being the only person to have run each of them in under twenty hours.
  • Finishing the Three Shires fell race in September 2015. This is one of the harder fell races in the FRA calendar, run over a challenging 10.5 mile course starting and finishing at the Three Shires Inn in Little Langdale, Cumbria.

  • At the start of the 2012 10in10 challenge for MS at the Swinside Inn in the Newlands Valley, Cumbria. The annual 10in10 challenge was designed and created by Yvonne Booth in 2011. It was her response to her husband Duncan’s diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis in 2010. As a wife and mother of three sons, she wanted to do something positive and help raise money for research into this cruel illness. Multiple Sclerosis is a debilitating neurological disease with no cure. Every June, hundreds of people walk over ten mountains in ten hours or five mountains in five hours. Walkers are sponsored to take part – so far they have raised a magnificent £169,000 for research into Multiple Sclerosis.
