MONOCHROMES: Duotones and Vintage
Almost all digital cameras are only capable of capturing colour images. Working in monochrome is quite a challenge, as inkjet printers are only capable of reproducing 256 tones between black and white, making subtlety impossible. The answer is toning - duo tone, tri tone and quade tone - using colour inks to produce a monochrome image.
Much of my early work was captured on film. Here is a selection of my favourite colour portraits converted to monochrome using this process.
