BBC - MYTHS AND HEROES: SHANGRI LA: The Sutlej River at Tholing

The Sutlej River at Tholing
Although this part of Tibet is almost impossibly remote today, it was not always so. The Sutlej pierces the great wall of the Himalaya and flows south into the Indian province of Kumaon. There is a military road along this valley, and were it not for modern political considerations, the metropolis of New Delhi would be a mere three days drive from here.
