BBC - MYTHS AND HEROES: SHANGRI LA: Nanda Devi and the Garhwal Himalaya

Nanda Devi and the Garhwal Himalaya
Nanda Devi (7816m) is the highest peak in the Indian Himalaya, and lies within an almost inpenetrable cirque which is only breached by the infamous Rishi Gorge. It is almost impossible to see the mountan from India, but here it is, revealed in all its splendour from the Tibetan plateau between Kailas and Tholing.
