Worker at the archaeological site of ancient Vani. Situated at the confluence of the Sulori and Rioni (ancient Phasis) rivers, this city was occupied between the 8th and 1st centuries BC, and archaeologists have been working here since 1947. The current project is run by Dr. Darejan Kacharava of the Centre for Archaeological Studies, Georgian Academy of Sciences, Tbilisi
